1. When you hear the words “mass shooting” what is the first thing that comes to mind?
2. Over the span of recent decades our country has witnessed some of the most savage mass shootings in history. Some of them stand out for unique circumstances: Columbine was the deadly incident of 1999 that arguably set the model for so many incidents to come. Sandy Hook was particularly horrifying in regards to the age of the victims. Over time the incidents have become more frequent and the fatality counts are higher- in late 2017, Las Vegas Nevada witnessed the single largest massacre at the hands of a lone gunman- and just weeks ago we saw the incident in Parkland Florida where 17 students lost their lives. Due to the Second Amendment, Americans have always had “the right to bear arms” but never before have we seen so many shooting incidents. What do you think is the cause for these changes?
3. As a result of public outcry, the issue is being scrutinized by lawmakers. They want to make it more difficult for criminals, domestic abusers, terrorists and dangerously mentally ill people to obtain arms. They also want to arm more people in authority. What do you feel is the best solution?
4. In 2 Timothy the Bible tells us that in the last days men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, disobedient to parents, unthankful, without natural affection, despisers of those who are good ect, ect- These traits are inarguably on display in our society- like never before people seem to be losing their ability to care about others. With or without guns, we will still have this problem. Personally- what do you think is causing this epidemic in America?
